Rock View has a mission, “to make disciples, teaching them to do all that God has asked them to do”(see Matthew 28:18-20). The people of Rock View live outward focused lives, constantly looking for ways to help the people around them come into a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.
As we do this we become:
We want to live lives based on God’s Word. Through reading and studying the Bible we find out how to live a life filled with God’s Spirit and power. With God’s power in us, we look for ways to be used by Him in our homes, work, school and church. The New Testament is full of stories showing Jesus going about His daily life and bringing God’s power to where people were. He prayed for them and God answered with supernatural intervention and miracles. He served those around Him and met their needs physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Jesus also spent time with the Father on a regular ba
sis, which we choose to do as well, feeding ourselves on God’s Word and spending time in prayer. As we allow Him to work through us with His power, He brings miracles into our lives and the lives of those around us.
We keep ourselves in constant communication with God. We also believe that praying in the Holy Spirit by using our spiritual language to be an integral part of our prayer lives. Paul says, in I Corinthians 14:15 “So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.”
The common thread throughout the Bible is relationship. From the beginning of creation when God made man in “our image”, to the sadness He felt when that relationship was broken through disobedience, to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross to restore us to unity with Him, we see His desire to be with us. He also recognized Adam’s need for human companionship and relationship. God created Eve to fulfill that need, establishing families. At Rock View, we want our relationship with God to be growing daily, as we change to be more like Him. We value fun and constantly look for ways to build positive memories with our families and friends. We also seek ways to include others who have yet to find a relationship with God. Finally we strive to grow as individuals for the purpose of bringing life to the relationships God has given us.
In Hebrews 10:25, Paul says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Our gatherings are times to celebrate the things that God has done and encourage one another. We love to express ourselves in worship by singing in the Holy Spirit and spending time in His presence. In these corporate times we receive the encouragement, training, and support we need to go out into the world and do all that God has for us to do.
We desire to be people who are able to relate with those [that] God places in our lives. As referred to earlier, Jesus met people where they were, and we as His followers are to do the same. At church, in our neighborhoods, while at work and play, we are to take God wherever we go. And as we live our lives we will connect others to Him. We also chose to be wise stewards of all that God has given us (i.e. finances, time, relationships, etc.).
Rock View exists to reach those who have yet to come to Christ. Both individually and corporately we want to be a part of connecting people to God. Studies have proven that more people come to Christ through new church plants than any other outreach. With that in mind, we look for ways to support new church plants and to be part of new church planting efforts.
